EXHIBITION OF “URBAN READINGS ON ISTANBUL” BY FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ARCHITECTURE

In scope of the course “Architectural Design I” conducted by Assoc. Prof. Selin Yıldız and Research Assistant Berkay Oskay, first-year students of Istanbul Kültür University, Department of Architecture, prepared projects under the title of “Urban Readings on Istanbul” which went on display on Thursday, October 24. 2024. Visitors interested in seeing these 3D works of students, which reflect Istanbul from various perspectives, can visit the gallery on the second floor of the Ataköy building.

1ST-YEAR ARCHITECTURE STUDENTS VISIT ISTANBUL MODERN AND ARTER

As part of the “Architectural Design I” instructed by Assoc. Prof. Selin Yıldız and Research Assistant Berkay Oskay, 1st-year students from the Department of Architecture went on a technical visit to Istanbul Modern and Arter on Thursday, October 17.

During their studies in the Fall Semester of 2024-2025, students will analyse Istanbul Modern and Arter in terms of mass, shell, and surrounding context, architectural program, exhibition content, and the interactions between art and space.

ALUMNI OF IKU DEPARTMENT OF ARCHITECTURE EVALUATED THE PROFESSIONAL ENVIRONMENT

Alumni of the Istanbul Kültür University Department of Architecture gathered with the faculty members of the department in the Architectural Design 6 studio before the “IKU Alumni Day” program held on Sunday, October 20, to refresh their memories and evaluate the architectural professional environment they were in. Our alumni, who shared their professional experiences in the meeting where graduates from different years were present, had the opportunity to discuss the professional environment and get to know other graduates studying in different years.

YTONG WALL APPLICATİON TRAINING

Within the scope of the ‘Building Science II’ course conducted by Prof. Dr. Esin Kasapoğlu, one of our academicians from the Department of Architecture, a wall application training was given by Ytong company on Wednesday, October 16. As part of the training held in the backyard of the Ataköy building in the Bakırköy campus, company representatives made a sample wall structure using Ytong wall blocks.

“DELMECE PLATEAU NATURE PARK” PROJECT TRIP

Within the scope of the “MIM0080 Diploma Project” and “ARC0080 Graduation Project” courses, conducted by Prof. Dr. Neslihan Dostoğlu, Assoc. Prof. Gamze Alptekin, Lecturer Dr. Suzan Sanlı Esin and Res. Assist. Merve Aksoy Oral in the Department of Architecture, a project trip to the “Delmece Plateau Nature Park” in Yalova was organized on Wednesday, September 25.

“A DESTINATION FOR ECOTOURISM IN DELMECE PLATEAU NATURE PARK” PROJECT PRESENTATIONS

Within the scope of the “MIM0080 Diploma Project” and “ARC0080 Graduation Project” courses conducted jointly in the Department of Architecture, guest speakers (Defne Akşin Akyol, Res. Assist. İdil Akkuzu and Murat Bayram) made presentations on the project topic titled “A Destination for Ecotourism in Delmece Plateau Nature Park” in Yalova on Wednesday, September 18.

DEPARTMENT OF ARCHITECTURE STUDENT MEHMET KÜÇÜK SERVED AS A JURY MEMBER IN THE “MURAT ARTU AND THE PASSION FOR ARCHITECTURE” COMPETITION

Mehmet Küçük, a student from the Department of Architecture, who won an award in the “Murat Artu and the Passion for Architecture Student Competition” in 2023 with his classmates, served as a student jury member in the competition organized for the second time in 2024. As the representative of the student jury members, Küçük participated in the final evaluation process in Bodrum Architecture Library with the other jury members, and made a speech at the award ceremony held in Ankara, where he shared his experiences and reflections on the process.

IKU DEPARTMENT OF ARCHITECTURE LEFT ITS MARK ON "MURAT ARTU AND THE PASSION FOR ARCHITECTURE STUDENT COMPETITION"

Students of Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Faculty of Architecture, Department of Architecture won 7 of the 21 awards given in the "Murat Artu and the Passion for Architecture Student Competition," which was organized for the second time this year.

“ARCHITECTURE AND INNOVATION”

In cooperation with the Department of Architecture and the Architecture Club, an event titled “Architecture and Innovation” was organized on Thursday, May 16th at Bakırköy Campus Ataköy Building. Within the scope of the event; workshops were conducted by Serge Ferrari, Kasso and Serannit companies between 10.00-15.00.

After the workshops; Cem Kafadar gave a talk about his book “Artificial Intelligence in Construction” and Bahadır Kul gave a talk about his success story.
