Dear Students, Future Architects
I would like to congratulate you for taking the first step towards the architecture profession by registering in the Department of Architecture. The İKÜ Faculty of Architecture Department of Architecture, which offers two different programs in English and Turkish, is formed with a multidimensional and interdisciplinary approach to education, covering various components from design knowledge, technology, philosophy and art to the economy, social dynamics and urban changes. The main objective in the light of this understanding is to educate civilized, modern, free, researcher, creative, dynamic and entrepreneurial architects who can compete in any environment, are competent on an international level, equipped with aesthetic values, follow and use the developing technology, respect historical, environmental and ethical values within a modern, effective and exemplary institution.
The Department of Architecture is the first and only department to receive the education quality accreditation by the Architectural Accrediting Board (MIAK) among all architecture departments of foundation universities in Turkey and is the third Architecture Undergraduate Program among all architecture departments in Turkey. In addition, the Department offers master’s and doctoral programs with and without thesis. The educational content of the İKÜ Department of Architecture has been prepared in accordance with the Bologna Process criteria in parallel with the international architecture programs.
The İKÜ Department of Architecture, which organizes joint studies with various schools on an international scale, and activities such as trips and workshops, provides an educational environment that enables students to become individuals who think and question. The products created in the design studios are exhibited at the end of the semesters and the exhibitions of architects who make valuable contributions in the architectural environment are frequently exhibited in our University, which creates a rich visual environment that will enable students to develop their own perspectives in cultural interaction.
