“RETHINKING URBANIZATION AFTER CRISIS: DISCUSSIONS ON DIGITALIZATION, RETURN TO RURAL AND WASTE MANAGEMENT” PANEL

Within the scope of the activities of Istanbul Kültür University Faculty of Architecture Department of Architecture, a panel titled “Rethinking Urbanization After Crisis: Discussions on Digitalization, Return to Rural and Waste Management” was held on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at 20:00. The panel was moderated by Prof. Dr. Evrim Özkan Töre, in which Assist. Prof. Melis Oğuz, Dr. Ayşegül Didem Özdemir and Dr. Ceyda Bakbaşa Bosson participated as speakers. In the event, which was carried out digitally via Microsoft Teams, the issues of self-sufficiency in the development of cities, the formation and organization in rural areas in the context of moving away from the city, and the change of socialization patterns were discussed in the light of the data provided by the panelists from national and international studies. In the panel, the design elements of zero-waste cities, socio-spatial characteristics and trends of ecovillages, the effects of spatial media on outdoor use, and how to interpret this virtualization for pre and post COVID-19 were sought.
