Ferda Kolatan

Istanbul Kültür University Department of Architecture continues to bring together the world's famous architects with its students and the architectural environment in the 2020-2021 Spring Semester. The last speaker of the online conference series was the famous Turkish Architect Ferda Kolatan on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at 20:00. Kolatan, the Founding Director of SU11 Architecture + Design Office, is also an associate professor at the University of Pennsylvania Weitzman School of Design. Ferda Kolatan's SU11 office in New York is internationally recognized for his design research that examines the intersection between contemporary culture, architecture and technology. SU11's projects have been widely published and have been exhibited in famous venues such as MoMA, FRAC Center, Walker Art Center, Vitra Design Museum, Art Basel, Artists Space NY; he participated in the Venice, Beijing and Istanbul biennials. Kolatan's research studio in Cairo won the "Golden Medal of Achievement" and the "2017 Architect Magazine Studio Award" from the Egyptian Ministry of Culture. Kolatan was named "Young Community Leader" by the American-Turkish Association in New York for his achievements as an educator and designer. Ferda Kolatan's online talk titled "Hybrid Architecture" attracted a lot of attention, as historical references shed light on today's architecture and his designs in which she combines creative studio experiences with technology.
