"NATIONAL KUŞADASI SUMMER SCHOOL" WORKSHOP PARTICIPATION AND ORGANIZING

The "National Kuşadası Summer School" was held between 25 June and 4 July 2022, with the sponsorship of the İzmir Branch of Chamber of Architects, TMMOB Chamber of Architects Kuşadası Representative Office, Architecture Foundation Initiatives and Kuşadası Municipality, and with the support of Design Guides Application and Research Association (TARGE). In the 10-day summer school, an executive group of diverse fields and disciplines was formed. The fact that the workshop coordinators consisted of faculties from Istanbul Kültür University, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Istanbul Technical University, Yıldız Technical University, and Izmir Institute of Technology, again proved to be important in the application of different views and methods in the workshop.

In the summer school whose one of the workshop coordinators include Assist. Prof. Dr.  Esin Hasgül from Istanbul Kültür University Department of Architecture, 22 students took part in 2 different workshops, being the design of the Kuşadası Coastline and the creation of the Caferli / Kirazlı Villages Village Design Guide. Students developed principles and suggestions regarding the scope and content of the village design guide in both villages with Kusadasi Beach band work products facade drawings, silhouette depictions and suggestions with collage and sketch techniques, and regarding the villages of Caferli and Kirazlı, by filling out the parcel sheets in the village settlement, surveying the villagers, surveying a certain number of houses, classifying the analyses with sketches, drawings and photographs. 

On the last day of the workshop, with the participation of the Chamber of Architects, The Municipality, Non-Governmental Organizations and local people, presentations and discussions covering all stages carried out were held at Kuşadası Station.
