Famous Architect, Writer, Designer and Academician Juhani Pallasmaa was the Guest of IKU Department of Architecture.
Istanbul Kültür University Faculty of Architecture Department of Architecture continues to bring together the world's famous architects with their students and the architectural environment in the 2020-2021 Spring term too. The first speaker of the online conference series was the famous architect, writer, designer and academician Juhani Pallasmaa on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 20:00. Pallasmaa has carried out architectural design applications with various architects since 1962 and between 1983-2012 through his office in Helsinki. Pallasmaa, who worked as the Rectorate of the Institute of Industrial Design, Director of the Finnish Architecture Museum, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Professor at the Helsinki University of Technology and Visiting Professor at many universities in the USA; explained examples of his projects along with his design philosophies; in his speech titled “Thought and Form: Drawing and Writing Architecture”. The speaker was asked questions about his books, "The Embodied Image", "The Thinking Hand", "The Architecture of Image: Existential Space in Cinema", which are well known in the world of architecture, and "The Eyes of the Skin", which has also been translated into Turkish, and his projects.
